Alaska's Tectonic Disasters
By: Timmy, Xavier and Diran
All of these natural disasters happened in Alaska because of tectonic movement. The American plate and Pacific plate are converging (moving towards each other), which causes the Pacific plate to slide under the North American. This is because the Pacific plate is less dense than the American plate. This sliding is also known as subduction, which is the process when one plate "slides" under another plate and is melted down by the heat of the core. This subduction causes Volcanoes and Earthquakes which can cause Tsunamis.
